What’s LEARN Science & Math Club? It’s one of the coolest places to be on Fridays. From mid-August through mid-May, kids are designing and programming robots, conducting experiments, building all sorts of wacky machines and …oops… learning!
In the Robo Camps, what type of equipment do the kids use to build their robots? The nine to fourteen year olds build on the Mindstorm NXT platform. During the school year, we also have a program for the six to nine crowd. This age group uses WeDo Robotics and other LEGO engineering products.
Is this a drop-off activity? Yes, our summer camps are drop-off activities. However, everything we do at LEARN Science & Math is family-centered; we encourage kids and parents work together. So, please feel free to visit and see what your kids are doing.
Are younger kids welcome? We welcome kids of all ages to our regular meetings; however, because our camps are often wildly popular, we won’t have space for a play area for younger kids.
What about lunch? Please bring a sack lunch for each day. We’ll provide snacks.
What happens at Camp? Our camps are all about fun. We do labs, projects and games all day long. The kids have so much fun, they don't even notice all those "lessons" we're sneaking in; it's just like when we parents hide the carrots in "carrot cake."
If my kid(s) love the camp, how can they get involved in the Club? Just request an application from Secretary@LearnScienceAndMathClub.org or pick one up at Camp. We have open enrollment at the beginning of first and second semesters. Currently, we serve kids between the ages of six and 14. (If you kids are older, check back next year when we’ll launch a high school program.) Space is also limited, but we’re always delighted to accept as many kids as fire code will allow us to squeeze into the building.
